"The year is 2251.
Every nation is on the brink of war, within themselves or against their neighbors. Alliances are made, pacts are broken, proxy wars rule the planet. At any moment, nuclear hellfire could blanket a nation or millions can be sent to their death against one another for ideological or resource reasons. The only reason they don't is because of the Corporations, you see. If the world is a ball of flame, who'll be left to by their products? The United Megacorporation Body ensures that no nation ever gets too full of themselves to ever press that big red button or completely wipe out another. Now, you're probably thinking that these corporations rule the entire world. Not so easily: the governments still tax 'em, still put laws and regulations in place to ensure they don't cross the line (before they bribe the lawmakers), and the governments have more men and bigger toys than them.
Sure, maybe the biggest ones could take over the smallest nations around as long as said nations don't have any larger nation watching over them for their own interest. Some have even tried to take on the bigger boys. When you have 200 tanks, 400 APCs, 100 jets, and 30,000 soldiers all aimed at your HQ that's had the most precision bombing you've seen in the last 20 years, you'll think next before trying to assassinate the president of the USA. 'Cuz guess what? These governments really want to try out their toys and other Corpos really want a slice of your business.
So, for them, subtly is the name of the game. Not like people still argue today who really rules the world.
On the bright side, tech's gone far. Bodysculpting to look as attractive or as a freak as you want, cybernetics to boost your human capabilities to the limit, bio-implants to do the same, genesplicing to create whatever sick things you can think of, unlock the ability to fling magic with a few rocks shoved into your brain, androids that can look, feel, and think like humans. It's all there.
There's this place in the middle of the ocean, a sorta man-made island that's mostly control by the Corpos with some oversight by the UN. At the top of it is a sparkling city filled with neon lights, nightly parties, clean streets and air. Further down you go, the more crap it becomes. At the bottom, part where they call 'the Depths', that's where gangers, terrorists, and other nasty things lurk. They created their own lil' societies down there. While the Corpos may want to ignore them, there's something more down there. Dark, nasty creatures that can break minds and warp reality. Strange rocks only really called 'xenolith'.
Brute force isn't working out too well, but maybe you're different. You're a freak of nature crafted by a Gov't or Corpo. You embody their strengths and weaknesses, you represent them, you're a step above humanity be it some perfectly engineered human, spliced together from alien and human, some sorta hyper advanced cyborg, or even just a badass with enough implants and cyberware in ya' to make sure you're a step above humanity."
General Premise: Cyberpunk world with a single, large city that plenty of people flock to. Magic is brought to life by funny rocks, monsters and aliens do exist. You represent a Corpo or Govt, titled "Representative" instead of "Godbound" in a "Conglomerate" instead of "Pantheon".
