There are two notable populations upon Thalum: Purebloods and Halfbreeds.
Purebloods belong to the highest class in society, for their blood is not tainted by mutation or bioengineering. To do so would be poisoning the blessed body that the God-Emperor had granted them. A family, or multiple of them, of Purebloods gather within Houses that occupy manors. It should come as no surprise that they are the political and financial powerhouse of the planet thanks to being within the top echelons of companies, military, and government. Intense expectations and private education ensures that future generations shall remain in-power.
In-breeding is not uncommon, but any sort of genetic mutants that come out of this are quietly kept away in dungeons and attics to waste away as unloved stains on the family's history. Bastard children are also not uncommon yet follow a similar level of apathy by being abandoned at orphanages and Halfbreed homes.
The middle class is filled mostly with Purebloods who, for some reason, have lost some prestige or never held it within the first place (perhaps getting too comfortable with Halfbreeds).
Regardless of being high class or middle class, they share a few characteristics: Speaking High Gothic, having posh accents, a belief in being better than Halfbreeds that range from gentle need to assist such lowly people to believing their lives mean nothing, and a need to prove their superiority. One should think of them as those British high class officers during the Napoleonic era. Some are able to rub elbows with the lower class, but others believe themselves in a realm above them that causes quite a number of issues.
Halfbreeds are those who had undergone genetic engineering many years ago or their descendants. They are more akin to abhumans as many of them are stronger or faster than your average human, if even slightly, but have additional features like animal ears and tails. The most common trade-off is struggling with empathy towards those not of the same "breed" as them or intellectual difficulties. These bestial folk hold many of the blue-collar jobs, enlisted soldier, cleaners, and clerks. Some di achieve a "middle class" status, but Purebloods still regard them lowly.
Many years of being told of their inferiority, reinforced by certain genetic downfalls, has made them subservient to Purebloods. How they respond to their "lords" is mostly up to how they were treated by Purebloods and the mini-cultures around them. Some see them as their masters who know best for the planet and Imperium as a whole. Others view them as prideful, arrogant leash holders that purposely keep them from achieving higher positions in life.

Different Breed: Each breed is a different animal that has been injected into the character's ancestors that have followed them throughout the years. This a +5 in one stat, -3 in another (usually Fellowship or Intellect).
