Although truly not dedicated to the Anima mechanics, it's the system I decided to go with just because.
Humans - A staple of the world, having a decent lifespan along with gestation period makes them excellent at living just about anywhere. Their digestion system is also quite adapt, letting them eat all sorts of vegetables, fruits, and meat without issue.
Durin
A smaller race with sharp, pointy ears. Their skin color ranges from a human's own to a ghastly white or charcoal black. Their eyes give off a light shine in the dark, pointing towards their superior night vision. Some mistake them for children, but a few grow pointy beards and mustaches and take great pride in them. They live indefinitely and are known to hold grudges for many, many years. With a gestation period close to a human's, they should be more populated, but it takes many years for a Durin to form a relationship with another let alone have children with another! Although they don't mind the occasional mistake, even trying to scam them by paying a single coin less will see them and their family come trying to burn down your home until sufficient reparations have been paid-- something that is up to them. The Aelvs' lack of understanding of property has caused quite a few racial disparities. Durin believe all Aelvs to be thieves and liars, but Aelvs believe all Durin to be highly aggressive and nitpicky.
Since they live underground, their cuisines are filled with some sort of mushrooms. For this reason, no mushroom can poison a Durin since they are quite accustomed to it. On the other hand, they find sweets to be poisonous. What type of sweets, be they hard candy, caramel, chocolate, whipped cream, or what have you, typically depends on the Durin Hold in question. Furthermore, they require a daily intake of liquor like how a human may require water.
Durin live in cave systems in mountains or hills, gladly digging away so that it will be "more impressive than Karaz-a-Krak". Their architecture is quite blocky, pillars being more like large blocks of stone carved with runes and signs. Few Durin care about style, so you'll find it very difficult to travel around a Durin hold if you don't read their language. All the buildings look remarkable similar and tunnels constantly wind about and lead to dead ends as some Durin "knows there is gold if we just dig for a few more hours".
Their technology is superior to most of the known world, having built people of steel along with blackpowder weaponry. Although they keep this technology closely guarded for it if were to fall into the wrong hands...
Aelv
Another set of pointy-eared (which are erogenous zones) people usually of fair, light purple, or light green skin. The ones that live within the forest are quite short, but those that live in plains can be quite tall. No two Aelvs share the same set of eyes, for they are either a mixture of their parent's designs or a completely unique one. These unique eye shapes is, what most believe anyhow, how Elves are able to see souls and even at great distances. Their beauty is quite remarkable, never blemishing or showing any sign of age. Like the Durin, they can live practically forever. Strangely enough, they don't really wear shoes.
They value personal freedom above all else and have an issue staying within one location, leading many of them to adopt an "Elder Leader" system within their nomadic groups. Furthermore, they idea of property ownership is rather warped. They believe you only own things that you have marked or are using, not just whatever you may find or buy. If a human isn't living in their house at the moment, an Aelv will gladly walk on in to rest and eat. Naturally, other races consider this to be squatting and stealing. Some Aelvs that live in the woods do settle down, becoming friends with the trees and plants. Yet, stories are spread about how fiercely they will defend their home and their openness with cannibalism as people are just another type of animal.
All Aelvs have a closeness to nature, never really needing to eat as their skin can absorb sunlight and convert it into energy for themselves, but their tongues still beg for the sweetness of apple juice or the taste of a burger. Aelvs barely even need to sleep, only needing to meditate for 1 or 2 hours in the sunlight. Furthermore, they can move as fast as a blur. Their dexterity and agility is superhuman in nature which they use to great extent when they're travelling the road or running away from guards.
"Aelfbane" is any sort of item that is made of a rare metal called platinum. A mere touch of platinum is enough to burn the flesh of an Aelv. If one were to consume or be stabbed with platinum, they will be in great agony before perishing.
Oni
Horned beings of terrifying strength and vices. Their skin can be red, blue, orange, green, yellow, or normal skin color. They either poses one or two horns sticking out of their forehead. It's said that the more an Oni fights, the bigger he will get until he is the size of a mountain, but they typically are short like a child or a really tall human. Some of them do reach the size of 7 or 8 feet tall like how some humans reach the height of 6'4 and above. Never be fooled by an Oni's appearance, even if they appear to be scrawny, for their race is naturally strong. An Oni child can arm wrestle your average human male, and will beat them most of the time.
Yet, every Oni has their voice. Typically, this is gluttony where they will demand a great feast or jug of sake before they do anything. They say because of their creator, the Great Eastern Demon Amakaratsu, could craft jugs of endless sake that he could shut off at any moment if the Oni ever thought about betraying him or ignoring his orders. After all, he did make them to fight the the great Greenskin threat. They said he created them by taking the souls of violent murderers and smashing them together in a clay body, before dipping them into a volcano. That would explain that when they don't get what they like, they are prone to growing incredibly violent or falling into a depressive stupor.
Their society is nothing but warriors, preferring giant weapons to crush any foe that come across them. Their leaders are called "Shogun-ni" and most Oni societies have strict laws about murdering one another (you're free game) for the entire population would quickly be wiped out if they did. Instead, they fight for one another's horns. An Oni's horn can grow back, but to lose one will always be a mark of great shame for the Oni. The most Shogun-ni will wear necklaces or have armor crafted out of the horns he has won. Few oni are anything more than wandering mercenaries or shock troopers for armies.
Durin and Oni get along decently well as they will frequently try to outdrink one another until they're piss drunk and wrapping an arm around their new comrade. Their prideful nature comes crashing one another into a peaceful resolution. That isn't to say it's all cheering and hugs as quite a few Durin have been meals for Oni while quite a few Oni have had their head blown off by a Durin marksman.
Limarnon
A number of species that have been categorized into one. They are half-man, half-beast, but have a human-like intelligence instead of the "Beastmen" who haunt dark forests. Since they are beasts, they can look like humans with a cat ear and tails or look like gators that stand on two legs with a barrel-shaped chest. Typically, the way to tell the difference from a Limarnon and Beastman is first asking if they can speak Trade Common.
Some Limarnon have unique names for their species such as the Centaurs and Harpies.
