Something that is commonly overlooked in RPGs, despite being highly important to everyone, is food and drinks. Naturally, many people find the idea of going through a process for cooking to be more trouble than its worth. Perhaps it eats more time than you would want for something you just want to gloss over. Yet, some people have a great love of food and whatever crazy combinations they can make-- to include whatever meat, or other ingredients, they may harvest from monsters. The purpose of this is to add additional flavor and mechanics, but not to the degree where you must cook all types of food in order to be "meta". Probably. For drinks, I am mainly going to focus on brewing beers and spirits. Teas might also be pretty good.
The first step is: what do you roll for cooking or brewing? My first thought is: History (Culinary Arts) and History (Brewing). However, if you just want to make teas and maybe some simple spirits, Herbal Lore would work for that.
Let's start off with cooking. Cooking has two elements: ingredients and recipes.
Recipes are easy. They each have a minimal History (Culinary Arts) check in order to create. This can be modified by tools available.
Culinary Arts Tools | Modifier
No Tools (Only Stick & Campfire) | -40
Some Tools (A Pot, Spoon) | -20
Cooking Kit/Small Kitchen | 0
Large Kitchen | +20
Culinary Arts Misc Modifiers | Modifier
Large Serving (4+ people) | -20
Unusual Ingredients | -20
Strange Alteration (Turducken, Giant Burger) | -40
Recipes have a base difficulty, based on what tools you may need and how hard it is to make it good. Certain ingredients, especially those from monsters, will modify the difficulty level.
Recipe Difficulty | Recipes
Routine (20) | Burritos, Sandwich, Soup, Stew, Boiled Egg
Easy (40) | Kebab, Tacos, Hot Dogs, Pies, Cookies, Cupcakes, Chili, Waffles, Pancakes
Moderate (80) | Steak, Burger, Roast, Cake, Pizza, Sushi, Spaghetti
